Was American slavery ended by the Civil War, or only exported to the rest of the world to the sweatshops feeding American companies? Has slavery been ended or only transformed into American prisons, where 75% of the inmates are Black and Latino? Has brutality against rebellious Black slaves simply mutates into state sanctioned police brutality against rebellious Black youth?
Definitions:
Race
Race is socially constructed category composed of people who share the biological transmitted traits that members of a society consider important. People may classify each other racially, based on physical characteristics such as skin color, facial features, hair texture and body shape.
Ethnicity
Ethnicity is a shared cultural heritage. People define themselves-or others as members of an ethnic category based on having common ancestors, language, or religion that confer a distinctive social identity.
Prejudice
Prejudice is a rigid and irrational generalization about an enteri category of people. Prejudice is irrational insofar as people hold inflexible attitudes supported by little or no direct evidence.
Stereotypes
Prejudice often takes the form of stereotypes, an exaggerated description applied to every person in some category.
